Currents of Calm
Cozumel, Mexico | August 28-September 4, 2027
Let the current carry you through clear turquoise water, past coral gardens and sweeping reef walls, into the kind of week that asks you to be nowhere but here.
A seven-night, all-inclusive scuba + yoga retreat where ocean adventure, restorative movement, and genuine connection come together with room to breathe. Open to adults of every generation and gender, including certified divers and non-diving companions.
Early Bird pricing available to the first six guests who reserve, or through January 31, 2027—whichever comes first.
Your Invitation to Move with the Current
There is a moment at the beginning of a drift dive when you stop trying to direct the water and allow yourself to move with it.
Your breathing settles. Your body softens. The reef begins to unfold beneath you: sculpted coral, bright sponges, blue-water drop-offs, and marine life appearing in its own time. For a while, there is nowhere else to be and nothing else to manage.
Cozumel invites that kind of presence naturally.
Currents of Calm brings a small group to the turquoise waters of Cozumel for seven nights of all-inclusive island living, 12 scheduled boat dives for certified divers, yoga, breathwork, mobility, and unhurried time beside the Caribbean.
This is not simply a week away or a collection of activities. It is an opportunity to experience adventure without rushing through it—to feel fully alive in the water, supported in your body, and connected to people who understand why the ocean keeps calling us back.
The week has shape, but not pressure. You can dive deeply into the experience while still having space to rest, wander, linger over a meal, or sit beside the water with nowhere else you need to be.

More Than a Dive Trip
The most meaningful journeys change the way time feels.
They loosen the grip of schedules and routines. They make ordinary conversations feel memorable. They return us to our senses: warm air, salt on the skin, the weightless quiet beneath the surface, and the pleasure of sharing something extraordinary with people who were strangers only days before.
That is the experience Currents of Calm is designed to create.
The diving is at its heart. Cozumel’s signature currents carry you along coral ridges, gardens, and walls, allowing you to cover more reef with less effort. Each descent offers another chance to become absorbed in the underwater world rather than merely observing it.
Above the surface, that sense of ease continues. Your room, meals, dive center, boats, pools, beach, and movement sessions are all in one place. There are fewer logistics to solve and fewer decisions competing for your attention.
What remains is the experience itself: the anticipation before a morning dive, stories exchanged over lunch, a restorative stretch at the end of the day, and the quiet satisfaction of realizing you were completely present for it.

Where Scuba and Yoga Meet
No previous yoga experience is required. Nothing is performance-focused, and every practice is optional.
Scuba and yoga share a quiet language: steady breath, relaxed attention, balance, and movement without unnecessary tension. Practices are woven around the diving—not apart from it—so the body feels supported before and after time in the water.
Breathwork
Breathwork helps you notice tension, slow down, and develop a steadier relationship with your breathing both above and below the surface. These practices can also help you feel more present before a dive and settle more fully afterward.

Mobility & Balance
Mobility practices focus on the areas diving asks the most of, including the shoulders, spine, hips, hamstrings, and calves. We will also incorporate balance and stability work to support confident movement as we age, both in daily life and on a moving boat.

Restorative Yoga
Gentle post-dive and evening practices help release tension that can build through the shoulders, back, hips, and legs over consecutive dive days. The slower pace gives the body and nervous system time to settle, rest, and feel ready for the next day.

The Relief of Being Looked After
There is a particular kind of freedom that comes from knowing the important details have already been considered.
Once you arrive, the essential pieces of the week are close at hand. You will not need to search for a restaurant before every meal, coordinate transportation to the dive center, or rebuild the day one decision at a time.
You can wake near the reef, share breakfast with the group, walk to the on-site dive center, and return from the water to lunch, a hammock, the pool, or an afternoon practice. The transition from adventure to rest is easy because both are part of the same experience.
From the first conversation to the final island evening, the rhythm and practical details are thoughtfully considered. The result is freedom to participate fully without feeling responsible for holding the week together.
This is thoughtful care without rigid programming: enough structure to help you settle in, and enough spaciousness to make the experience your own.

Meet Your Host & Yoga Instructor
We can't wait to meet you!

Founder & Adventure Curator
Laura Ramos
I have been scuba diving since 1995. For years, diving was what kept me grounded through a demanding career—my own form of calm, wonder, and connection, explored across underwater destinations around the world.
As I entered my 60s, I began thinking more intentionally about longevity: not because adventure was becoming smaller, but because I wanted it to remain a meaningful part of my life for decades to come. My personal goal is to still be diving in my 80s.
That desire became part of the inspiration for Portal Mindful Retreats. I create experiences that bring together the things I value most about travel: immersion in the natural world, practical care for the body, thoughtful preparation, and the connection that grows when good people share an adventure.
As your host, I bring warmth, practical care, and a genuine love of sharing the ocean with women who understand its pull. I cannot wait to meet you offshore.

Yoga Instructor
Sheryl Seitz
I’m a RYT-200 yoga instructor and the founder of Zennest of the Zen, a yoga and wellness brand built on a simple truth: your inner peace is not a side hustle.
I teach nourishing, breath-led classes that feel like a deep exhale. During our retreats, expect movement and flow, deep stretching, and grounding sequences designed for scuba divers. We'll release tension, boost energy, and prepare the body and mind for top performance in the water. The emphasis is always on right-sized effort. Strong when you need it, gentle when it serves, with the breath setting the pace.
During our retreats, expect movement and flow, deep stretching, and grounding sequences designed for scuba divers.
Before and after our dive days, I’ll guide you through sequences that help you unwind, reconnect, and settle into a deeper sense of ease, both on the mat and underwater.
What You Carry Home
You may arrive thinking about the reefs you hope to see or the dives you hope to add to your logbook.
You may leave remembering something less measurable: how natural it felt to move with the current; how quickly conversation opened around a shared table; how different your body felt when movement supported the adventure instead of becoming another demand.
The photographs and dive log will matter. So will the quieter things:
-
Memories of drifting along Cozumel’s coral walls, gardens, and blue-water drop-offs
-
Greater confidence in your ability to stay relaxed, aware, and comfortable in moving water
-
Practical breathing, mobility, balance, and restorative practices to bring into future travels
-
New connections with people who understand why time in the ocean matters
-
A renewed sense of what becomes possible when adventure and care are allowed to coexist
The hope is not that you return home as a different person. It is that you return feeling more like yourself: awake, connected, and already imagining where the water might carry you next.

Is This Your Kind of Adventure?
Currents of Calm is built around a shared orientation toward travel: curiosity, presence, respect for the ocean, and an openness to experiencing it with others.
This retreat may feel right for you if you:
-
Are a certified diver who wants a dive-forward week in one of the Caribbean’s best-known reef destinations
-
Are a non-diver who feels a strong pull from the ocean, enjoys yoga, and the ease of a shared retreat experience
-
Feel drawn to traveling with adults from different generations and walks of life
-
Enjoy or feel ready to experience boat-based drift diving, with conditions and currents that vary by site
-
See breathwork, mobility, balance, and restorative movement as practical support for an active life
-
Want the warmth of a small group without needing every moment to be spent together
The retreat may not be the best fit if you:
-
Are looking only for very calm, stationary reef dives and are uncomfortable with current
-
Prefer to build every day independently rather than join a thoughtfully shaped retreat rhythm
-
Want a trip with very little scheduled diving
-
Are looking for a full itinerary of organized activities beyond scuba diving and yoga
You do not need to arrive already knowing anyone. You do not need to fit a certain image of a diver or yoga practitioner. You only need to come ready to participate with kindness, flexibility, and respect for one another and for the island itself.

Cozumel Beneath the Surface
Cozumel’s protected reef system is shaped by clear Caribbean water and the current moving along the island’s western and southern shores. Beneath the surface, the landscape shifts between coral gardens, towering formations, swim-throughs, ridges, and walls disappearing into deep blue.
Drift Diving with Character
Sites such as Palancar Gardens, Santa Rosa Wall, Columbia Reef, Paso del Cedral, and Punta Tunich each reveal a different expression of the island.
One dive may carry you past massive coral structures and arches. Another may follow a wall lined with sea fans and bright sponges. A shallower reef may invite you to slow down and notice the details that are easiest to miss.
This is part of the pleasure of diving Cozumel: surrendering the need to know exactly what will appear and allowing each site to introduce itself.
Marine Life, Large and Small
Depending on the site, season, and conditions, divers may encounter sea turtles, eagle rays, nurse sharks, groupers, moray eels, lobsters, seahorses, schools of grunts and snappers, and the splendid toadfish found only around Cozumel.
Some dives are remembered for the scale of a wall disappearing beneath you. Others stay with you because of a camouflaged toadfish, a ray lifting from the sand, or a turtle moving effortlessly through the current.
The ocean decides what it will reveal. The invitation is simply to be present enough to notice.
Local Knowledge Beneath the Surface
Local divemasters add another layer to every dive. They understand how the current shapes each site, where conditions tend to shift, and which corners of the reef may reveal something easily missed.
Site selection changes with the day’s conditions, diver experience, and safety considerations, allowing each descent to meet Cozumel as it is rather than as a fixed itinerary.
