Reef, Breath & Ease

Roatán, Honduras | September 19-26, 2026

A scuba + yoga retreat for warm-water adventure, recovery, and calm.

Why This Retreat Can Change the Way You Travel

A BETTER WAY TO EXPERIENCE DIVE TRAVEL

This retreat is not just about diving in a beautiful place. It’s about experiencing dive travel in a way that feels better in your body and more restorative overall.

Most divers accept the soreness, stiffness, and fatigue that come with repeated dive days as part of the deal. This retreat is built on a different idea: that adventure and recovery can work together.

By combining scuba, breathwork, mobility, and a more intentional rhythm to the week, the experience becomes more than a trip. It becomes a better way to keep doing what you love.

What Scuba + Yoga Actually Do Together

This combination is not random, and it is not just a wellness add-on.

Breathwork

Breathwork can help divers build more awareness of tension and support steadier, calmer breathing underwater, which is crucial for buoyancy control.

Meditative Body Pose

Mobility

Mobility can help offset the physical demands of carrying gear, climbing ladders, and repeated days in the water, especially through the neck, shoulders, and lower back.

Beach Yoga Pose

Recovery

Recovery-focused movement can help your body feel more supported from one dive day to the next.

The Promise

This retreat is designed to offer a better way to experience dive travel, one that supports your body, respects your pace, and still feels like a real adventure.

You are not here to choose between excitement and self-care. The goal is to bring both together in a way that makes the full week feel more sustainable, more enjoyable, and more worthwhile.

Tangible Benefits of This Experience

This retreat is designed to improve how the full week feels in your body, in your energy, and in the overall experience.

Thoughtfully Designed So You Don’t Have to Piece It Together

A big part of the value of this retreat is not just that the logistics are handled for you. It’s that the experience has been intentionally designed in a way that would be difficult to recreate on your own.

The diving is already there. What Portal Mindful Retreats adds is the yoga and breathwork support, woven into the week in a way that fits the dive schedule and helps support the body before and after repeated dive days.

Instead of trying to coordinate accommodations, diving, movement, and timing yourself, you get to show up and step into an experience that has already been thoughtfully put together.

What You Leave With

The point is simple: to help you come home from a week of diving in Roatán feeling exhilarated and restored.

That means:

  • More confidence that you can keep saying yes to this kind of adventure for years to come

  • More support for your body across the week

  • More presence in the water

  • And more enjoyment of the overall experience

This retreat welcomes certified divers, non-divers who value mindful movement, and travelers who appreciate a well-paced, adventure-forward experience.

Is This Experience for You?

This retreat may be a great fit if you:

  • love diving but feel repeated dive days more in your body than you used to

  • want a better balance of adventure, movement, recovery, and rest

  • are curious about using yoga as a practical tool to support diving

  • want to come home from a week of diving feeling exhilarated and restored

  • value great diving, strong service, and a thoughtfully designed experience

  • prefer a well-paced trip over a packed itinerary

This retreat may not be the best fit if you’re looking for:

  • a party-focused trip

  • a packed, dive-heavy schedule with little room for recovery

  • a luxury resort experience

  • a trip built around doing as much as possible rather than enjoying the full week

Shared Experience, Natural Connection

One of the quiet benefits of a retreat like this is being around people who are drawn to the same kind of experience: ocean time, movement, beauty, and a more thoughtful way of traveling.

That doesn’t mean forced bonding or constant group activity. It means the week is shared with people who often value similar things: adventure, rest, good conversation, and a pace that leaves room to actually enjoy where you are.

For many guests, that creates a sense of ease from the start. Whether you come solo or with someone else, there is space to have your own experience while also being in the company of people who get why this kind of trip matters.

About This Diving Destination

Why Roatán?

Roatán sits along the second-largest reef system in the world: the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. Surrounded by a protected marine park, the island offers vibrant coral walls, swim-throughs, abundant marine life, and visibility that often reaches 50–100 feet. Water temperatures hover around a very comfortable 80°F year-round, which makes it an ideal setting for a week built around diving.

Diving in Roatán

Diving in Roatán can feel both exciting and easy at the same time. The reef is full of color and life, with coral formations, swim-throughs, and regular sightings of turtles, rays, reef sharks, and schooling fish. Just as important, the overall conditions support a relaxed experience in the water, one that fits naturally with a retreat designed around both adventure and recovery.

All dives are boat dives, and one of the biggest advantages of this location is how close the sites are. Most are only 5–15 minutes from the resort, which means less transit time, less hassle, and more energy for the diving itself.

Dives are led by experienced local divemasters who know these reefs intimately. The operation offers a valet diving experience, so most of the heavier setup and handling is taken care of for you, with divers responsible for their own wetsuits, fins, boots, and masks.

Another thing that makes this experience different is that we dive as a team, rather than separating into isolated buddy pairs. That creates a more cohesive, supported rhythm in the water and helps the week feel smoother from start to finish.

Your Home Base in Roatán:

Seagrape Plantation Resort

Your stay at Seagrape is designed to feel easy from the moment you arrive. For this retreat, guests will be lodging in the resort’s ocean-view bungalows, which are comfortable private spaces with air conditioning, a private bathroom, a mini fridge, a porch, and a hammock.

They’re not flashy or overbuilt, and that’s part of the appeal. What makes them work so well for this retreat is the combination of comfort, convenience, and location. After a day in the water, you can come back, rinse off, stretch out, and actually settle in.

Meals are served at Ricky’s Buffet, the resort restaurant, where Judith — lovely, welcoming, and just the right amount of sassy — helps make the experience feel personal. Breakfast is hearty and simple: eggs, waffles or toast, ham or bacon, beans, fruit, and coffee, tea, or juice. Lunch varies and can include chicken, shrimp, or fish, and sometimes beef or pork, all served with rice, vegetables, and other sides. The meals are approachable and satisfying, with a local island flavor that helps the experience feel connected to Roatán itself.

If you have any dietary restrictions, please let us know when booking. We’ll do our best to communicate your needs with the resort in advance and help make sure you’re well taken care of throughout the week.

Yoga Designed Around Diving

The yoga in this retreat is built around the dive schedule for a reason: to help your body feel more open before diving, more supported after, and more sustainable across the week.

Each morning begins with a short 20–25 minute session focused on waking up the body gently through breath, mobility, and slow transitions. The goal is not intensity. It’s to create more ease in the areas that diving asks a lot of — especially the shoulders, spine, hips, hamstrings, and calves.

The main post-dive session, about one hour long, shifts into recovery. This is where the body gets a chance to release accumulated tension, support the core and shoulders, and reset after repeated time in the water. Breathwork is part of this too, helping build awareness, steadiness, and a calmer, more efficient relationship with breathing.

In the evening, a shorter 20–25 minute wind-down session helps everything settle. These practices are floor-based, gentle, and restorative, with stretching, quiet breathing, and guided relaxation to help the nervous system soften and the body fully exhale before sleep.

All sessions are led by Sheryl Seitz, whose approach is practical, grounded, and accessible — even for guests who are completely new to yoga. Nothing about these sessions is performative. They’re here to support the week, support the diving, and help you feel better in your body from start to finish.
