The Quiet Cay

Roatán, Honduras | September 25-October 2, 2027

Step onto a private Caribbean cay where remarkable diving, refined comfort, and a quieter island rhythm are always within reach.

An invitation-only scuba and yoga retreat for women drawn to warm-water adventure, restorative movement, and the intimacy of a boutique island experience.

Early Bird pricing is available for the first six guest spots reserved, or through November 15, 2026—whichever comes first.

Your Invitation to a Quieter Kind of Island Life

There are places you visit, and places that seem to slow the world down the moment you arrive.

A small private cay surrounded by warm Caribbean water, sea breeze, and the kind of quiet that makes it easier to notice where you are, how you feel, and what you have been missing.

For one week, life becomes beautifully simple. You wake near the water. You spend your days exploring the ocean, moving your body with care, sharing meals and stories, and letting the island set the pace.

The week moves through the many personalities of Roatán’s reef—from coral canyons and sunlit swim-throughs to dramatic walls, wrecks, quiet macro encounters, an East End Adventure, and the reef after dark.

This is not a week built around repeating the same beautiful dive. It is an opportunity to discover how varied one island can be.

There is adventure, but no pressure to rush through it. There is community, but still room to be quiet. There is refined comfort without losing the feeling of real exploration.

The Quiet Cay is an invitation to step away from the noise and into a week that feels rare: intimate, restorative, deeply connected, and shaped almost entirely by the sea.

A More Intimate Way to Experience Dive Travel

The luxury of this week is not excess. It is proximity.

The reef is close. The dive team is close.

Meals, movement, rest, and the water are all part of one intimate setting. Less of your energy is spent moving between the pieces of the trip, leaving more of it available for the experience itself.

We keep the circle intentionally small, allowing familiarity to grow naturally over the course of the week. Around the pool and restaurant, faces become familiar.

The dive team begins to know how you move through the water. Conversations drift easily from the boat to dinner.

The experience feels personal without becoming programmed—and polished without losing the easy warmth of island life.

Breathwork, mobility, balance work, and restorative yoga are woven into the week so your body feels supported as the adventure unfolds. Remarkable diving, natural connection, and genuine ease are not competing priorities here. They are parts of the same experience.

Where Scuba and Yoga Meet

Yoga is not an unrelated wellness add-on. It is practical support for the physical and mental demands of repeated dive days.

Both scuba and yoga invite steady breathing, relaxed attention, efficient movement, balance, and the ability to respond without unnecessary tension. Both ask us to notice what is happening in the body and meet the moment as it is.

No previous yoga experience is required. Nothing is performance-focused, and every practice is optional.

Breathwork

Breathwork helps you notice tension, slow down, and develop a steadier relationship with your breathing both above and below the surface. These practices can also help you feel more present before a dive and settle more fully afterward.

Meditative Body Pose

Mobility & Balance

Mobility practices focus on the areas diving asks the most of, including the shoulders, spine, hips, hamstrings, and calves. We will also incorporate balance and stability work to support confident movement as we age, both in daily life and on a moving boat.

Beach Yoga Pose

Restorative Yoga

Gentle post-dive and evening practices help release tension that can build through the shoulders, back, hips, and legs over consecutive dive days. The slower pace gives the body and nervous system time to settle, rest, and feel ready for the next day.

Thoughtfully Designed For You

There is a special kind of freedom in arriving somewhere and knowing the important details have already been considered.

Long before you reach the cay, the timing, flow, logistics, and spaces in between have been shaped so the experience can feel natural from the moment you arrive.

There is no schedule to manage, no dozen decisions to make, and no need to wonder what comes next. From the first conversation to the final island evening, each detail is considered so the experience can unfold with ease.

You can wake near the reef, dive with a team that begins to know you, return to a beautiful meal, move your body in ways that feel supportive, and settle into an oceanfront evening without needing to go anywhere else.

Your attention can stay where it belongs: on the water, the people around you, and the rare pleasure of having everything you need within reach.

Meet Your Host & Yoga Instructor

We can't wait to meet you!

Laura-Ramos_edited.jpg

Founder & Adventure Curator

Laura Ramos

I have been scuba diving since 1995. For years, diving was what kept me grounded through a demanding career—my own form of calm, wonder, and connection, explored across underwater destinations around the world.

As I entered my 60s, I began thinking more intentionally about longevity: not because adventure was becoming smaller, but because I wanted it to remain a meaningful part of my life for decades to come. My personal goal is to still be diving in my 80s.

That desire became part of the inspiration for Portal Mindful Retreats. I create experiences that bring together the things I value most about travel: immersion in the natural world, practical care for the body, thoughtful preparation, and the connection that grows when good people share an adventure.

As your host, I bring warmth, practical care, and a genuine love of sharing the ocean with women who understand its pull. I cannot wait to meet you offshore.

Yoga Instructor

Stevie Eberle

I’m a lifelong yogi, diver, and fitness instructor who loves bringing strength, mobility, curiosity, and a little playfulness to the mat. I’ve been practicing yoga for 35 years and teaching fitness for more than 20. As a diver myself, certified in Monterey, CA, I know firsthand how good it feels to move, breathe, and reset after time in the water.

My teaching draws from Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin, and Restorative yoga, with elements of Pilates and barre when they can help build core stability, hip mobility, and back strength. I’m intentional about every class, from the sequencing and the variations I offer to the music that accompanies our practice.

I’m especially passionate about offering variations that support different bodies, fitness levels, and injuries. My goal is to help you challenge yourself when it feels right, recover when you need it, and discover what your practice can do for you—both in and out of the water. My motto is simple: success is only as you define it.

I’m excited to combine three of my favorite things—yoga, travel, and the ocean—for this adventure in Roatán.

What You Carry Home

You will leave with more than photographs and a fuller dive log.

You may remember sunlight entering a coral crevice, the transformation of a familiar reef after dark, or the easy rhythm of returning to the same intimate cay after every adventure. You may remember a conversation that continued from the dive boat through dinner—or the simple relief of realizing you did not have to rush through any of it.

You will carry home:

  • Memories of Roatán’s coral canyons, dramatic walls, wrecks, swim-throughs, and warm Caribbean water

  • The experience of watching the reef change after dark on a night dive

  • Renewed confidence in your ability to keep choosing ambitious ocean adventures

  • Practical breathwork, mobility, balance, and restorative practices for future dive trips

  • New connections with women who understand the pull of the ocean

  • A new appreciation for how personal dive travel can feel when the group, resort, and rhythm are intentionally kept small

The week is designed to leave you exhilarated by what you experienced, restored by how you moved through it, and ready to keep saying yes to the ocean.

Is This Experience for You?

This retreat was created for women who want real adventure without giving up comfort, care, or the ability to experience the week at their own pace.

The Quiet Cay may feel right for you if you:

  • Are a certified diver who wants a dive-forward week in a smaller, more personalized setting

  • Are a woman in midlife or beyond who wants an active travel style designed with longevity in mind

  • Appreciate warm-water reef diving, dramatic walls, swim-throughs, wrecks, and varied marine life

  • Want the comfort of a boutique resort without losing the feeling of real adventure

  • See breathwork, mobility, balance, and restorative yoga as practical support for repeated dive days

  • Would enjoy sharing the experience with a small group while still having space for yourself

  • Value natural connection without constant group activity or forced bonding

  • Appreciate having the reef, dive operation, meals, movement, and rest within easy reach

This retreat may not be the best fit if you:

  • Prefer a town-based stay with restaurants and shopping

  • Want a large all-inclusive resort with constant entertainment

  • Prefer a nightlife-centered or party-focused trip

  • Want to build every part of the itinerary independently

  • Are looking for a retreat with very little scheduled diving

You do not need to arrive already knowing anyone. You do need to bring curiosity, flexibility, kindness, and respect for the ocean and the small community sharing the cay.

Roatán Beneath the Surface

Roatán sits along the Mesoamerican Reef, where warm Caribbean water meets one of the most varied underwater landscapes in the region. The island is known for coral-covered walls, deep blue drop-offs, canyons, crevices, swim-throughs, wrecks, and reef slopes that change character from one site to the next.

An Underwater Landscape with Character

On the south shore, sites such as Mary’s Place, Calvin’s Crack, Missing Link, and Mr. Bud Wreck reveal the range of Roatán diving.

One dive may lead through volcanic crevices lit from above. Another may follow a wall lined with sea fans, soft corals, and colorful sponges. A third may slow over a sandy patch or coral garden in search of something small and perfectly camouflaged.

This variety is part of what makes Roatán so rewarding over a full week. Each descent can feel like a different expression of the same island.

Marine Life, Large and Small

Roatán rewards both wide-angle wonder and patient observation. Depending on the site and conditions, divers may encounter sea turtles, rays, reef sharks, moray eels, groupers, snappers, jacks, angelfish, parrotfish, lobsters, crabs, seahorses, nudibranchs, spotted drums, and an extraordinary variety of reef fish and sponges.

Some dives are about the scale of a wall disappearing into blue water. Others are about the quiet thrill of spotting a seahorse or juvenile drum tucked into the reef.

The magic is in the contrast: immense walls and open blue one moment, a perfectly camouflaged seahorse or juvenile drum the next. Roatán rewards both wonder and the willingness to look closely.

Local divemasters add another layer to every dive. They know how conditions shift from site to site, where to look, and which corners of the reef may reveal something easily missed.

Adventure Beyond the Familiar Reef

Beyond the familiar south-shore sites, Roatán’s East End reveals a wilder, less-traveled expression of the island—long reef lines, dramatic contours, and the delicious feeling of entering water few other boats are exploring.

After sunset, the reef becomes another world. In the beam of a light, colors intensify, familiar shapes turn mysterious, and nocturnal creatures emerge from places that appeared still by day.

From coral canyons and wrecks to the East End and the reef after dark, the week feels rich, surprising, and impossible to reduce to a single favorite dive.

Your Home Base on the Cay

Barefoot Cay Resort & Marina

Barefoot Cay is a boutique resort set on a small private cay, with oceanfront and ocean-view villas, suites, and studios. The property hosts only a limited number of guests at a time, giving the week a more personal and peaceful feel. Its on-site dive operation, Barefoot Divers, is a PADI 5 Star IDC Resort, bringing professional dive facilities and service into the same intimate setting.

Accommodations include air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, premium linens, private bathrooms, and Caribbean views. Private accommodations are prioritized for solo travelers. Shared pricing is available only to couples, friends, or companions booking together. Roommate matching is not offered.

Our full meal plan is served at Azure Restaurant and includes breakfast, lunch, an afternoon snack, and dinner. The open-air restaurant sits beside the pool and brings international flavors together with Caribbean ingredients and a relaxed island atmosphere.

Between or after dives, you can settle beside the pool, take out a kayak, snorkel, relax at the Ocean Pavilion, book a massage at your own expense, or simply enjoy the quiet of the cay.

This is refined comfort at an intimate scale: close enough to the water to remain immersed in the experience and personal enough that the cay begins to feel familiar.
